Dorothy Scher nee Blumenthal, 93, beloved wife of the late Harry; cherished mother of Steven (Eleanore) and Sandra Scher; loving grandmother of Carol Scher (Jason Battle) and Joanne Scher; dear sister, aunt, cousin and friend of many. Graveside service Friday, October 2, 2:30 PM at Shalom Memorial Park, 1700 W. Rand Road, Arlington Heights. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the charity of your choice. I believe that when I was growing up, Dorothy Scher lived across Route 22 from my family. She was my mother’s closest friend. Her daughter Sandra rode a horse named Ronah. I have nothing but fond memories of her.
